Described as “putting the Malaysian capital on the art map“*, GALLERY WEEKEND KUALA LUMPUR (GWKL 2019) returns for its fourth edition, November 15th-17th, 2019.

Continuing the meaningful exploration of quality engagement, GWKL 2019 leads with culture. Featuring over 25 galleries, projects, collections and institutions, the visual content will be informing, dynamic and memorable, providing an immersive introduction to this capital and beyond. 

There will be:  gallery exhibitions; artists’ talks and special projects; heritage tours; creative workshops; and of course, the Luminary Programme featuring important creative expertise and talent. Local and Global.  Gourmet and bespoke stay experiences provide additional dimension to experiencing the creative excellence of this vibrant region.  

This year’s Luminary Programme will  include:  Aga Khan Museum’s Asia Curator, Marika Sardar;  National Technology University’s newly appointed Deputy Director of Curatorial Programmes, Dr. Karin Oen (formerly Asian Art Museum, SF); Indigenous Arts Curator, Taiwan, Biung Ismahasan;   Singapore National Museum’s Curator, Dr. Adeline Tan; first Pakistan Pavilion Curator, Venice Biennial 2019, Zahra Khan; UNESCO Observatory Director, Lindy Joubert; and Malaysian Textiles Specialist, Edric Ong.

Entrance to GWKL Luminary and Exhibition/Project features is free to all.
